The Los Angeles Rams just suffered their first loss of the season and now the Seattle Seahawks are trying to make it two in a row and finally beat their division foe.

The Seattle Seahawks are coming off of a tough loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, who managed to hold on to a 25-17 victory last Sunday. Now the Seahawks will face the Los Angeles Rams, who are also coming off of a loss. With the now 8-1 Rams looking to rebound, this could be a bad game for the Seahawks.

No doubt Sean McVay will have his team playing at their bests, which means Seattle will need to play on Sunday like their season depends on it, which it pretty much does at this point.

Sitting at 4-4 the Seahawks still have to face the thriving Carolina Panthers and Kansas City Chiefs along with the threatening Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings after playing the Rams. Those will all be tough matchups and the chances that Seattle will thrive down the stretch this season are extremely slim.

That’s why this Rams game is so important. Not only do the Seahawks desperately need a win, they need to prove once and for all they can compete with playoff teams.

To pull out the improbable victory, the following five Seahawks players will need to have great games.

Tyler Lockett

Lockett had just three receptions for 22 yards against the Chargers last week. Where are all the big plays! Lockett is the Seahawks resident speed demon and home run hitter. The team has such a higher chance of winning when Lockett breaks a big play or two during a game.

The team’s second receiver was having a career year filling in for the injured Doug Baldwin, but when Baldwin returned his production was more than halved. In the past three weeks Lockett has just a combined 69 receiving yards. He had more than 60 receiving yards in three games prior to this recent down stretch.

That’s the Lockett the Seahawks need to show up, the one who hits a big play every game or at least contributes a solid chunk of yards to the offense. If the offense gets both him and Baldwin going at the same time, it will be a thing of beauty. That kind of one-two punch wins games.

The Seahawks are playing the Rams this week, and cornerback Marcus Peters has been burned several times this year by speedy receivers who blow past him for long touchdowns. If Lockett draws Peters in coverage on Sunday, Russell Wilson had better be looking his way.
