Seattle Seahawks: Bobby Wagner, players to watch vs. Rams in Week 10
By Samuel Teets
Russell Wilson
Did you know that Wilson hasn’t thrown for over 300 yards in a game this season? Last year he crossed 300 three times with the high water mark coming at 452 yards in Week 8. He also threw for 290 yards five times, including the three 300-yard performances. This season his only 290-yard game was in Week 1. He hasn’t come close to that number since.
Another notable number that has dropped, Wilson is running for more than 20 yards per game fewer than he did in 2017. You could say that’s a good thing and it’s because the running game has been working so well. That would be right, except Wilson is one pace to be sacked 50 times this season, seven more than in 2017.
With that much pressure you’d expect him to escape and then either run or throw the ball downfield. Despite facing the most pressure he’s ever had to deal with, Wilson is on pace to set a career low in rushing yards.
Regardless of your feeling on Wilson as a rushing threat, he has not felt like the MVP candidate he did last year, despite him being on pace to throw more touchdowns and have a higher competition percentage than last year. The running game really has taken center stage from Wilson and that’s fine, but he needs to have a big time game against the Rams, because he’s the Seahawks leader and it’s a must win game.
