2. Ezekiel Elliott

In three of his past four games, Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has failed to reach the 70-yard mark and in just one of the past four games he rushed for over 100 yards. So, the question remains: which Elliott will show up on Sunday Night Football?

In the past four games, the Cowboys are 1-3 in the standings, and do you want to guess which game the Cowboys won? You would be correct if you picked the one game in that span that Elliott rushed for over 100 yards. That game came on Oct. 14 when the Cowboys defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 40-7. Since that game where he rushed 24 times for 106 yards and one touchdown, the Cowboys haven’t had that same success.

Some of the reasons the number of carries per game have been less are due to the fact the Cowboys have been forced to use their passing game more as they’ve trailed in games. Against the Washington Redskins, Elliott rushed 15 times for 33 yards for a 2.2 yards per carry average. This past Monday night, Elliott rushed 17 times for 61 yards for 3.6 yards per carry. In both of those games, Elliott has been held out of the end zone.

Granted, the offensive line play for the Cowboys has been off lately, and on Monday night Elliott was used more in the passing game with four receptions for 51 yards, but the Cowboys need Elliott to run the football and run it with success. In two of their three wins this season, Elliott has rushed for over 100 yards. If Elliott doesn’t do that on Sunday night, added with being held out of the end zone for a third straight week, it could make for another long game for the Cowboys offense.
