4. Scott Linehan goes berserk with play-action passes

As we mentioned in the first bold prediction, this Dallas coaching staff is all about over-reacting. The problem is, they have no true identity and they can’t figure out how to use the weapons they have.

Dallas built this roster around Jason Garrett‘s idea of a perfect team. On offense, that includes a massive offensive line, a workhorse running back, and a quarterback who can stand in the pocket and pick teams apart.

With Dak Prescott at quarterback, that last part isn’t working. This isn’t to knock Prescott, because he has talent. He just doesn’t fit what Garrett and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan want to do and they struggle to adapt.

What usually ends up happening is they mess up and then after members of the media point out their flaws, they go overboard trying to fix it. This week, one of the issues was the lack of play-action passes.

While Marcus Mariota was destroying Dallas with the play action, the Cowboys responded with very few of their own. Now that this has been pointed out, Linehan will try and prove he knows when to dial up those calls and that means he will go overboard. Don’t be shocked if every attempt from Dak starts with him faking to Ezekiel Elliott.
