New York Jets: Best fits on coaching staff for 2019
General Manager: Louis Riddick
Even though the general manager isn’t a coach, he has a very big role in the success of the coaching staff. That’s why we will address this position in this article.
The best case scenario for the Jets would have the head coach be the general manager. However, in this scenario, the Jets are hiring a head coach to also be the play caller of offense. There’s no way an NFL team would hire someone to be the GM, head coach and play caller. That’s not feasible to achieve ultimate success.
Louis Riddick has been out of the limelight of professional football itself since 2013, but he hasn’t been away from the game. When he was last in football, he was the director of pro personnel for the Eagles. There were several key pieces drafted that were crucial to them winning the Super Bowl while he was a member of the staff.
Since he left the Eagles, he’s been an on-air talent with ESPN. He’s been an analyst there covering both the NFL regular season and a main contributor to the NFL Draft coverage. He’s also an instructor at The Scouting Academy. He has a mind for the game and understands the ins and outs of building a roster, and would be the man they need to right the ship in New York.
