2. Todd Bowles, New York Jets

I had nothing but the highest expectations for Todd Bowles when he joined the New York Jets a few seasons back. The defensive-minded coach looked to be in a good position to thrive in his first opportunity to lead an NFL team. Well, it hasn’t quite gone as planned.

Instead, over his three years in the Big Apple, Bowles has mustered an unimpressive 23-35 record. The development of rookie quarterback Sam Darnold has been extremely underwhelming, as he has struggled more and more following his seemingly fluky first NFL appearance.

Things are headed in a downward spiral, especially after Week 10’s shellacking at the hands of a miserable Buffalo Bills team. The offense isn’t going anywhere, and the defense is failing to live up to the amount of talent on the roster. Although I’m sure there are plenty of factors at play here, the blame often falls on the head coach. Sorry, Todd, that means you.

Things may get better, but they’ll probably get worse first. Assuming that ends up being the case, it could be a bad day in the Bowles household when Black Monday arrives. Maybe the head coach can turn things around, but based on the Jets’ recent performances, I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
