2. New York Giants: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

This is where things get tricky. The New York Giants are on the board, but as we mentioned earlier this order is determined by our recent power rankings. Since then, the Giants won and could have moved further down in the draft — hurting their shot at Justin Herbert, and that seems to be their target.

Recently general manager Dave Gettleman made his way to Utah to watch Herbert play in person. The Ducks lost, but Herbert had 288 yards and three touchdowns, again showing off his skill.

He would be a great addition to the Giants, but two things could get in the way. One is their latest win. If they keep that up, they make it harder on themselves to replace Eli Manning — and will be crushed even harder for passing on Sam Darnold in 2018.

Another hold up is Herbert’s looming decision on whether or not he will go to the NFL. While his desire to play alongside his brother is admirable, it seems like it would be hard for anyone to turn down being the top quarterback in any draft.

Only time will tell how it plays out, but should the Giants land Herbert, they could be set for the next decade under center. They would also be one of the lucky teams to transition quickly from one franchise guy to another as Herbert would follow Manning.
