Still in need of a legitimate tight end threat, the Dallas Cowboys need to do their due diligence on the incoming class in 2019, including these three targets

The last two weeks have made a huge difference for the Dallas Cowboys. After they fell to 3-5 and were facing two road games (they were 0-4 on the road to start the season) it seemed like they were about to fall apart. Instead, they dug deep and have won two close games in back-to-back weeks.

On Sunday Night Football in Week 10, they defeated the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles and got themselves back into the conversation for the NFC East. Then in Week 11, they beat the Atlanta Falcons on a last-second field goal by Brett Maher, which gives them a shot to take the lead in their division.

Dallas plays on Thanksgiving day against the Washington Redskins, who are sitting at 6-4 and one game ahead of Dallas. Should the Boys win that game, they’ll share the lead and have the advantage considering Washington just lost their starting quarterback for the rest of the season with a broken leg.

While they’re looking much better, the roster still needs some work. On offense, the biggest hole is easy to see. Dallas didn’t do near enough to replace Jason Witten at tight end.

Geoff Swaim has been filling in, and while he’s been a decent player, he’s much better suited to be a second option at the position. What the Cowboys need is a player who can help open up the passing game in the middle of the field.

Even without a first-round pick, the Cowboys could find themselves a playmaker. In 2018, only one tight end went in the first round — Hayden Hurst was taken by Baltimore at No. 25. That means Dallas could make a play for a guy should they fall in love with his game. Here we look at three players they could target in the 2019 NFL Draft.
