Round 2: David Edwards, OT, Wisconsin

Ever since the legendary Joe Thomas retired from the Cleveland Browns, the orange and brown have been hurting on the left side of the offensive line. Despite Pro Bowl guard Joel Bitonio, and second-round pick Austin Corbett on the team, Cleveland has had a lot of turmoil at left tackle this season. This could be easily remedied, should the Browns choose to draft David Edwards in the second round.

It might be a stretch for Edwards to make it to the second round in the first place, but he would be a steal for Cleveland at that position. Edwards hails from elite offensive line university, Wisconsin, which has produced talents such as Kevin Zeitler, Travis Frederick and, of course, Joe Thomas.

Everything points to the Browns taking Thomas’s heir apparent in 2019, and that exists in David Edwards. Desmond Harrison has developed a bit, and Greg Robinson is serviceable at points, but the Browns have no true answer in the way of a franchise left tackle.

Edwards has shined this season, with running back Jonathan Taylor running all over the Big Ten. In a game against Purdue this season, Taylor recorded a 321-yard performance with the help of Edwards and the Badgers’ consistently fantastic offensive line. Edwards is a staunch presence, at 6-7 and 315 pounds, and he is exactly what Cleveland needs to keep Baker Mayfield’s jersey clean.
