Green Bay Packers: 3 Ways to fix team for stretch run
By Joe Kipp
The Green Bay Packers have several overlying problems. Here are three things they should do to alleviate their issues.
After an agonizing defeat to the Seattle Seahawks last Thursday night, the Green Bay Packers fell to 4-5-1 on the season. With just six games remaining, they’ll almost certainly need to win out to even have a chance at sniffing the playoffs.
That being said, the No. 6 slot in the Wild Card is still up for grabs, and the Packers have their eyes on the prize. The Chicago Bears seem to have a firm grasp on the NFC North, so a Wild Card berth may be their only hope.
But all hope is not lost — at least, not yet. Although it’s been clear that Green Bay has a few key issues holding them back, there’s no reason they can’t turn it around. After all, the overlying problem hasn’t necessarily had anything to do with overall talent, but rather scheme and a lack of execution.
For starters, the Packers haven’t utilized their talent to its fullest extent. This is abundantly clear. Aaron Jones isn’t getting the ball enough, Marcedes Lewis has barely seen the field this season, Jimmy Graham has been somewhat of a disappointment, and the list goes on.
Additionally, Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers aren’t on the same page, and neither have full confidence in themselves, the offense, or each other. Rodgers simply hasn’t looked like himself and may be starting to show his age, while McCarthy’s offensive scheme seems to be becoming more stale by the minute.
These are some of the main issues with the Green Bay Packers. That doesn’t mean they aren’t fixable, but it’ll surely be an uphill climb. If the Packers want to make the playoffs, they’ll need a quick fix. Here are three things they’ll need to do in order to fix their problems.
