The Philadelphia Eagles were embarrassed in Week 11 against the Saints. A team with such high hopes just hit rock bottom in 2018.

The Philadelphia Eagles entered their Week 11 matchup against the New Orleans Saints with the hopes of a huge win that could save their season. Instead, the Eagles left New Orleans as a 4-6 team with one of the most lopsided losses in team history.

The 48-7 drubbing at the hands of Drew Brees and the Saints was bad from the get-go. Before you could blink an eye, the Saints had a 17-0 lead. The Eagles showed their only sign of fight early in the second quarter on a Josh Adams touchdown to make it a 17-7 game. But the fight that we have come to expect from this Eagles team never showed up.

The Saints scored the final 31 points in the game and danced their way to a victory. The matchup was deemed to be a game of NFC powerhouses, but it was not. The game resembled more of a top ranked Alabama team facing an FCS opponent like The Citadel. By the end, the Saints had pulled all their starters, a move that the Eagles were familiar with last season.

Everyone knew coming into this game that the Saints had a dynamic offense, so the Eagles were in need of a huge offensive game. What they got was only seven points and three turnovers — most notably, three interceptions thrown by Carson Wentz.

Wentz had arguably his worst game in an Eagles uniform. Making matters worse, the Eagles 41-point loss was the worst loss by a Super Bowl defending champion in NFL history.

Technically, the Eagles still have a chance to make the playoffs this season, but at 4-6 this team seems more destined for a top-10 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft than they do for a playoff spot. With the injuries and losses piling up the Eagles are going to have to do their best not to let this season get any worse. Here’s hoping that Doug Pederson and the team can get this thing figured out.
