Help is something the Buffalo Bills desperately need if they expect Josh Allen to succeed. Luckily, the 2019 NFL Draft can offer them a great deal of just that.

The 2018 season can only be described as a failure by Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane and head coach Sean McDermott — especially after the 2017 season where the Bills made the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

There’s not a huge threat to their job security just yet, but no one should feel safe sill. This past offseason saw Beane have an excellent draft for the Bills. He drafted three high-quality players who have contributed in their rookie seasons.

The first domino to fall was a potential franchise quarterback, Josh Allen. Beane followed that up by drafting inside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, who looks like a star in the making. In the third round, he took defensive tackle Harrison Phillips, who’s done a solid job so far.

However, despite drafting Allen, there weren’t immediate plans to start him — for good reason. The offensive line isn’t what it once was and they don’t have enough at wide receiver to succeed. Many expected AJ McCarron to take the beating while Allen honed his skills. That didn’t happen.

Instead, Allen won the job and Beane shipped McCarron to the Oakland Raiders for a 2019 fifth-round pick. Allen started five games and showed flashes. He threw two touchdowns to five interceptions before getting injured. Bills fans then suffered through the horrific play of quarterbacks Nathan Peterman and Derek Anderson. The Bills went 0-4 as Peterman and Anderson combined for one touchdown and 11 interceptions.

Matt Barkley came in to save the day, throwing two touchdowns in a win against the New York Jets. If Barkley continues to play well, it could jeopardize the Bills draft position inside the top 10.

Nevertheless, the team is a ways away from reaching the playoffs. More important than anything is helping Josh Allen moving forward. Thankfully, the 2019 NFL Draft is full of talented prospects that can help them. With that, we’ll dive into an early three-round mock draft for these Buffalo Bills.
