18. Green Bay Packers: Jaire Alexander, CB

There really wasn’t anyone out there who didn’t think Louisville cornerback Jaire Alexander wouldn’t be a good corner. He was easily one of the best prospects at his position and projected to be a great cover guy in the NFL. Even so, there was hesitation due to his issues with durability while playing collegiately.

He has missed a couple games for the Packers, which means he hasn’t completely shaken the bug, but at the same time, he’s been a great rookie for them when he is healthy.

Alexander hasn’t just been their best coverage corner, but he’s also shown a willingness to come up and hit the ball carrier in run support. Through his first eight games played, Alexander has been credited with 41 tackles, nine pass defenses and a half sack. He’s also recorded an interception, but will likely see that number increase the more comfortable he gets reading and reacting to receivers routes.

The Packers have been all in the past couple seasons at revamping their secondary. After taking Kevin King in the second round in 2017, they added Alexander here and Josh Jackson in the following round. It’s safe to say that Alexander is the best of the trio and his durability is the only thing that may slow him down.
