At this point, it’s a stretch to imagine Christian Wilkins falling all the way towards the 50-60 range. And yet, he doesn’t have nearly as much momentum as his fellow Clemson defensive linemen right now. With a loaded defensive tackle class, there’s potential for Wilkins to slide.

In this case, I’m thinking he could find himself falling into the Vikings’ laps in the second half of the second round. If that were to happen, you better believe Minnesota would run to the podium to scoop up a prospect who could finalize this team’s elite defensive line.

The Vikings already have the defensive end spot locked down with Everson Griffen, Danielle Hunter and Stephen Weatherly. The 1-tech spot is set with Linval Joseph, but chances are Sheldon Richardson is headed elsewhere after 2018. That’ll leave a gaping hole at the 3-tech, a position Minnesota has yet to find a capable replacement at.

Well, I can assure you Wilkins would be a perfect fit.

Teamed with Griffen, Hunter and Joseph, Wilkins would absolutely shine. Using his power at the point of attack and ability to collapse the pocket, he’d give the Vikings arguably the best defensive line in the league. It’s a pipe dream, but crazier things have happened during the NFL Draft.
