The New York Jets need to make some drastic changes for 2019. Here are three free agents they need to sign.

Fans of the New York Jets are fed up. They’re tired of the incessant losing year after year. The off-season will be vitally important with the NFL Draft and free agency. Gang Green currently has over $106 million in salary cap space, according to Spotrac. They need to sign some key free agents and draft well to finally turn this ship around from hitting the iceberg again and again.

The Jets have been the Titanic for too long. They must make the AFC playoffs in 2019, hopefully under a new head coach. No more excuses.

Here are three free agents that New York, led by general manager Mike Maccagnan, needs to sign for 2019:

3. Le’Veon Bell, RB

This one is a no-brainer. Le’Veon Bell is sitting out the 2018 campaign, so he will be rested (rusty?) and healthy heading into free agency. He’s in his prime at 26 years old and is one of the premier halfbacks in the NFL. He would solve so many issues for the Jets.

He’s a dynamic runner and receiver out of the backfield. You can line him up in the slot as a wide receiver. He’s effective in picking up the blitz. He has tallied over 1,000 scrimmage yards in four of the five seasons he has played, including a career-high of 2,215 in 2014. He’s scored 42 career touchdowns.

He won’t come cheaply though. The Michigan State product is reportedly seeking $17 million per year, with $45 million guaranteed. That’s a ton of money but Gang Green is in the position to pay it. Perhaps they can get Bell to sign on the dotted line for $15 million per year, $42 million guaranteed. Either way, Bell needs a new home and the Jets need a playmaker in the worst way. It seems like a marriage that should work.
