30 best NFL head coaching hires of the 21st century
Apart from Lovie Smith, the Chicago Bears haven’t had a quality head coach since Mike Ditka was running the show back in the 1980s and early 1990s. Well, that statement may no longer be accurate after the hiring of Matt Nagy this past offseason.
Yes, it’s extremely early in the process. I wouldn’t blame you one bit for claiming that Nagy’s inclusion on this list is premature. Regardless of your opinions though, I’m pretty confident when I say that Nagy joining the Bears is already one of the 30 best hires of the 21st century.
How did I come to this conclusion? Well, look at how the Bears have played so far in 2018. In less than a year, they’ve gone from the bottom of the NFC North barrel to clear front-runners in the division. Mitchell Trubisky has gone from an underwhelming rookie quarterback to sophomore sensation. Tarik Cohen was exciting as a rookie, but now he’s an explosive offensive weapon.
Put simply, Nagy entered the equation and elevated the talent of nearly every player on the roster.
It is a tad early to tell where Nagy and the Bears go from here. However, if his first season in Chicago is any indication, things are only going to get better in the Windy City.
