Chicago Bears: After earning respect, easy games can’t be dropped
Now that the 8-3 Chicago Bears are receiving more positive attention, they cannot revert to their old ways and lose winnable games.
The Chicago Bears are becoming a media darling. The national media is more positive covering them. The local fans love how fun this team is and their celebrations have gone viral. Things are going great for the franchise.
Now that the Bears are getting some of the attention they deserve, they still aren’t getting enough. Although they have a stranglehold on the NFC North division, there are still many who still don’t think they’ll win the division, or even finish second. The Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings will somehow, some way, find a way to climb over the Bears and make it to the playoffs.
Of course, the Bears have something to say about that. They are focused on winning the division and putting a dent on the other teams’ playoff hopes. They also hope to make a long playoff run so everyone knows they’re for real.

In order for all that to happen, the Chicago Bears need to win the games they need to win. This is a young team, and things like that happen. The problem is, they are playing as well as the elite teams are. Those teams win games against the weaker teams and at least compete against other elite teams.
That brings me to the Bears’ upcoming schedule. They face the New York Giants in Week 13. That’s the 3-8 New York Giants. The Giants who have trouble with their quarterback and trouble protecting that quarterback. Their offense ranks 20th in yards, 22nd in passing touchdowns, and 22nd in total points scored. They rank 31st in sacks allowed, giving up 36.
The Bears are 4.5-point favorites as a road team. That’s not bad. All things are pointing for a big Bears win. This defense should overwhelm the Giants offense. The strength of New York’s offense is Saquon Barkley. Even there, that plays to the Bears’ strength. They are tops in the league in rushing touchdowns allowed and average rushing yards per attempt.
With a matchup against the Los Angeles Rams coming next week, this week’s game against the New York Giants can be a trap game. They need to take care of business on Sunday, Believe that there are some “experts” out there who were wrong about the Bears who are ready to pounce if the Bears fall.
The Bears can fall against the Rams since not many will give them a chance. They cannot, however, fall against the Giants. They need to beat the breaks off New York and then prepare for the Rams. If not, the old narrative will return.
