2. Drew Brees completes over 80 percent of his passes

For most people, Drew Brees is the leading MVP candidate after the first 12 weeks of the 2018 NFL season. The Saints quarterback may be 39 years old, but he has looked like a spry kid out on the gridiron this season with the way that he’s been able to methodically dice up defenses. As a result, the New Orleans legend and future Hall-of-Famer is on track to capture his first-ever MVP award.

A big part of the Saints quarterback’s success this season has been his accuracy. In a season where accuracy has been at an all-time high from quarterbacks in terms of completion rate, Brees has proven to still be the most accurate signal-caller in the game. For the year, the Purdue product is completing an absurd 76.4 percent of his passes.

What’s more, Brees has been consistent. His completion percentage has been below 65 in just one game this season and above 80 in four games, including going 79.6, 80.0 and 82.2 in his first three games of the season, respectively. With how I expect the Cowboys defense to perform, though, you might think this isn’t one of those games. However, I don’t see that.

Brees completing a high volume of his passes likely means that he’s not taking shots down the field and generating quick offense, which is what the Cowboys will be keying in on stopping. Dallas should be trying to hold Brees and the Saints to field goals and, with the success they can have in this matchup, I think they do that, which means that Bree’s already gaudy completion percentage will spike up further.
