The New York Jets head to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans in a Week 13 matchup that has ramifications for teams on opposite ends of the NFL spectrum.

NFL Week 13 presents an old AFL Eastern Division rivalry matchup between the Tennessee Titans (then known as the Houston Oilers) and the New York Jets. The all-time series record is 23-19-1 in favor of the Titans/Oilers.

There’s an odd quirk in the schedule though since the move from Houston to Nashville. This game will mark the eighth time the Jets make the trek down south. While, on the other hand, the Titans have only come to East Rutherford three times since the move. Gang Green is 4-3 all-time in Nashville.

The Titans are in the playoff hunt for the second straight season, and they are also still in it for the AFC South, albeit barely. The Jets are looking for the nearest exit and can’t wait until Dec. 30 when the season ends. They wouldn’t mind playing spoiler to playoff hopes along the way though.

Tennessee comes into this game off of a tough loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night where Marcus Mariota was fantastic, but the offense as a whole was far from consistent and the defense was a monumental letdown. As for the Jets, they were upended, once again, by the Patriots. Thus, neither team is heading in an ideal direction at this moment.

Prediction

This is a game that’s hard to predict — especially predicting the final score. For one thing, Neither offense is exactly one to be feared, but also neither defense is either. The Jets have scored more points per game than the Titans, but the Titans have given up fewer points. (To be frank, the over/under for this game is a little bit high.)

In the end, the defenses will win out and we will see both punters a lot in this game. That’s simply because of offensive inefficiency and not necessarily defensive efficiency.

Fans prefer shootouts, but don’t expect one in this game. This game will come down to field position and who can take advantage when the field tilts in their favor. That means it favors the Titans.

Final Score: New York 13, Tennessee 20
