4. San Francisco 49ers: Andraez Williams, CB, LSU

This was supposed to be a special season for the San Francisco 49ers. They landed Jimmy Garoppolo in a trade just before the deadline in 2017 and he wound up going 5-0 as the starter for them. The Niners front office was so pleased with his work, they gave him a five-year contract worth $137 million.

Garoppolo then went 1-2 as a starter this season before tearing his ACL. With him out of the lineup, their entire offense has struggled. While his return to health could fix those issues, the defense could use some work as well.

General manager John Lynch has been praised often for his work in a short time, but the moves everyone was so high on are beginning to get questions. Solomon Thomas, the No. 2 overall pick from 2017 is still coming into his own. As for their second pick in the first round that season, Reuben Foster, he’s been released after a domestic violence arrest. That was a risky move to pick him up, and it surely didn’t work.

Lynch needs to hit on a pick here and he tries that with Greedy Williams from LSU. Not only is he one of the better defensive back prospects in this class, but he plays a position of great need for the Niners. If he works out, that could help Lynch keep some heat off himself.
