5. Jacksonville Jaguars: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

One NFL Insider summed up the state of the Jacksonville Jaguars perfectly. In 2017, they were Super Bowl contenders despite average (at best) play from the quarterback position. Rather than try and improve there, they extended Blake Bortles and have now fired offensive coordinator Nathanial Hackett as if he were the reason for the failure.

As Benjamin Allbright points out, these windows to win are small. And for some reason, the Jags completely overlooked the one position that was seriously flawed. That cost them as 2018 has been a lost year and it wouldn’t be shocking if more people than Hackett have to discuss their future when the season is over.

One person who needs to be out the door though is the quarterback. Blake Bortles has been so wildly inconsistent throughout his career and Hackett had a tough job trying to call an offense in which the quarterback was the last person you wanted to give the ball to.

That won’t be a problem any longer should they land Justin Herbert out of Oregon. Herbert is far and away the best draft-eligible signal-caller this season. The question is whether or not he enters the draft. If he does, he becomes the first at his position to hear his name called.
