Richard Sherman’s revenge will have to wait

Sherman is holding a bit of a grudge against the Seahawks after his departure last offseason. Week 13 was the first time Sherman got to matchup against his former team and things did not turn out well for the former All-Pro. He did not even record a tackle, let alone an interception.

Prior to the matchup, Sherman was vocal regarding his relationship with some members of the team, including Wilson. There’s clearly a level of resentment between Sherman and some of the players on his former team. Doug Baldwin is not one of those players though. The wide receiver and Sherman hugged it out before the game. Baldwin had previously made comments in support of Sherman and said he had the utmost respect for his former teammate.

It’s nice to know Sherman still has some friends on the Seahawks. After all, he was such a huge part of the team’s consecutive NFC Championships and one Super Bowl victory.

The Seahawks originally drafted Sherman in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The Stanford product spent seven years in Seattle and recorded all 32 of his career interceptions. He made four Pro Bowls, was a three-time First Team All-Pro, and was the best shutdown corner in the league for a few years. He was also the face of the legendary Legion of Boom defense.

My expectations were high for Sherman’s first matchup with the Seahawks, but I feel a little let down by the outcome. Sure, Sherman was vocal all game long, but the 49ers got steamrolled and Sherman didn’t do anything to really stand out. But I refuse to give up on my hopes for the grudge match just yet. Round two starts in Week 15 and I’m hoping for something special.
