The Philadelphia Eagles have won two games in a row for the first time all season. They finally picked the right time to hit their stride.

The Philadelphia Eagles have won two games in a row, even though it isn’t much, we’ll still call it what it is: A winning streak. This most recent 28-13 victory over the Redskins on Monday night has them now sitting at 6-6. They are currently just one game out of first place in the division, and they finally seem to be finding their stride.

The most notable difference that this team showed the last two weeks is the emergence of a running game. Against the Redskins in Week 13, they were able to get solid production out of Josh Adams, Corey Clement and the injury-nagged Darren Sproles. They ran the ball 33 times, only the second time all season that they carried the ball more than 30 times in a game.

The bulk of the carries were given to the rookie, Adams. He has proven himself to be the team’s primary ball carrier. His 85 yards rushing were the most by an Eagles running back all season. Even though he doesn’t have the breakaway speed of Clement or the shiftiness of Sproles, he has been the most consistent option the Eagles have. Expect to see him dominate the touches out of the backfield for the rest of the season.

The running game wasn’t the only thing working for the Eagles against the Redskins. Carson Wentz is continuing his stellar season as he threw for 306 yards and two touchdowns. The most exciting part of the passing game was the fact that Wentz was finally able to connect with newest Eagles receiver, Golden Tate.

In Tate’s first three games with the Eagles he only amassed 11 catches for 97 yards total. In this game alone he was able to grab seven receptions for 85 yards and his first touchdown as an Eagle.

On the other side of the ball the defense has been steady, but not great the last two weeks. They were let off the hook against Washington when quarterback Colt McCoy broke his leg and journeyman Mark Sanchez entered the game. They’ll have many tough tasks ahead, but they did enough to win, and that’s all that matters.

Going forward the Eagles have a tough stretch as the remaining four teams they have left to face have a combined record of 33-15 this season. The good news for the Eagles is that they finally seem to be finding their way. They’ll need to keep the momentum going if they have any shot of making the playoffs this season.
