The Philadelphia Eagles are 6-6 through 12 games and face their biggest rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, with their season on the line in Week 14.

The Philadelphia Eagles are facing their fiercest rival, the Dallas Cowboys, in Week 14 with their season on the line. If you ask Eagles fans, any matchup against the Cowboys is meaningful, but it isn’t always the case that the matchup could make or break the Eagles season. The game on Sunday is exactly that.

The Eagles stand at 6-6, just one game behind the 7-5 and division-leading Cowboys. A win would give them a share of the division lead with three games remaining. A loss would virtually end their hopes of reaching the playoffs.

Philadelphia has one of the toughest remaining schedules in the NFL. After they face the Cowboys, they still have to play the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams, two of the best teams in the NFL. They do get to finish up against a Washington Redskins team that will be starting a third string quarterback.

The Cowboys, however, have a much easier schedule after they play the Eagles. They play the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New York Giants to end the season, with the Colts being the only team of the three with a chance at making the playoffs.

That’s why it’s even more crucial for the Eagles to win this game. The Cowboys have a good chance at running the table the last three weeks. The Eagles are going to have to play like their 2017 version in order to beat LA and Houston. If they fall two games behind the Cowboys that will be too much to overcome.

One of the things that the Eagles have going for them this week is the revenge factor. These teams last played each other in Week 10 in Philadelphia on a Sunday Night. At that point, the Eagles were deemed the better team and many thought them to be an overwhelming favorite. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The Cowboys won the game 27-20 at Lincoln Financial Field.

This rivalry has been extremely even in recent years. For the previous five seasons, these teams have split both of their matchups. It goes to show how hard it is to sweep one of your bitter rivals.

This is only the second game of the season that the Eagles are considered underdogs. The first one didn’t go so well against New Orleans. Either way, the Eagles know that their season is on the line this week. Win and they move on. Lose and they are outside the playoff picture looking in.
