Carolina Panthers vs. Cleveland Browns: 5 Players to watch in Week 14
3. Myles Garrett
Cleveland’s franchise pass rusher clocks in at No. 3, as Myles Garrett hopes to get his hands on Cam Newton in Week 14. Quickly morphing into one of the league’s elite defensive ends, Garrett has been well worth 2017’s No. 1 pick. As far as the Browns are concerned, Garrett is a defensive presence not seen in the Dawg Pound since the team’s return to the league in 1999.
Garrett has 18 career sacks in 20 career starts, and is making waves throughout the NFL. Genetic freak and aspiring archaeologist, the Texas A&M product is one of the most interesting and likable players throughout the league. That is, unless you’re an opposing quarterback and he’s coming right for you.
Garrett’s ability to get pressure on the edge is rivaled by few in the league, and because of this he’s able to affect all aspects of the game around him. Garrett helps Cleveland’s run and pass defense immeasurably, and even has a blocked field goal this season. His impact on the game makes him a great asset, and is part of the reason why the Browns have caused so much disruption and so many turnovers in their games this season.
Against a Panthers offensive line that has been hit with injuries and generally lackluster play at any rate, Garrett’s presence will be critical for the Browns defense to assert themselves in this game.
