Dallas Cowboys: Allen Hurns

It’s hard to find much to be mad about with the Dallas Cowboys right now. Sure, you can rip their offense for not getting into the end zone enough, but it’s hard to pick on a team that’s on a five-game winning streak and just took a commanding lead in their division with a huge win over the Eagles in Week 14.

That doesn’t mean everything they did works. In fact, they headed into the season with a terrible plan at wide receiver. They had just cut Dez Bryant, and while that move made sense, they didn’t replace him. Instead, they decided to trot out a plethora of secondary receivers with Allen Hurns expected to be their top receiver. So far, he’s been a complete bust.

In their Week 14 win, Hurns had just one reception for nine yards, and that’s a common stat line for him. On the season, he now has 18 receptions for 237 yards and two touchdowns. His best game came in their loss to the Redskins on Oct. 21 when he had 74 yards on five receptions. However, since that game, he’s been a complete non-factor and will likely not see the second season of his two-year deal.

Hurns isn’t a bad player, but the Cowboys over-estimated his worth. He’s not a No. 1 target and now that Dallas has one in Amari Cooper, Hurns has fallen by the wayside. He’s not as explosive as Michael Gallup and doesn’t run in the slot like Cole Beasley. Because of that, he’s a forgotten man.
