Arizona Cardinals: Sam Bradford/David Johnson

This season clearly hasn’t gone according to plan for the Arizona Cardinals. They won’t be close to the postseason, but instead, find themselves in line for a top-5 pick in the following draft thanks to their poor performance to this point in the NFL 2018 Season.

Part of the reason this wasn’t expected had to do with the Cardinals spending a lot of money on Sam Bradford in the offseason. Following the retirement of Carson Palmer, Arizona drafted Josh Rosen while also getting a veteran in Bradford.

He was given $20 million for one season, which made little sense considering his inability to stay healthy throughout his career. Those issues continued in Arizona as Bradford managed just three starts — all of which were losses. He had two touchdowns against four interceptions and was eventually cut as they admitted their mistake.

Bradford isn’t alone as a bust in the desert though. Running back David Johnson has been a shell of his former self. Formerly considered one of the best in the game, Johnson missed most of 2017 with a wrist injury. He returned healthy in 2018 but didn’t manage 100 yards on the ground until a Week 11 game against the Raiders.

Clearly, this isn’t the season the team hoped for and the play of these two had a lot to do with the shortcomings.
