Seattle Seahawks: 3 Big takeaways from win vs. Vikings in Week 14
By Samuel Teets
Seahawks will be the fifth seed in the playoffs
I already said that the Seahawks are currently holding the fifth seed, but they just beat the sixth seed and increased their lead over their nearest competitors. I don’t see a way in which Seattle will end up losing their current spot, especially since the teams behind them have been struggling.
The Vikings still have the best shot to overtake the Seahawks, since they could technically finish 9-6-1 and the Seahawks would finish 8-7 if they lose out. But that is unbelievably far-fetched, especially since the Vikings still have to face off against the Chicago Bears in Week 17. The Bears have already beaten the Vikings this season and are playing on a different level right now.
The Seahawks also have the luxury of finishing the season with an easy stretch of games. They do play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 16 and I fully expect them to lose, but they also have to play the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers again. Seattle has already beaten both of these teams and Arizona and San Francisco are only a combined 6-20 with three wins apiece.
The closest team to the Seahawks besides the Vikings is the Carolina Panthers at 6-6. I don’t think Carolina is much of a threat though, especially since they’ve lost their last five games in a row. So it seems that this most recent win has clinched the fifth seed for the Seahawks.
