Kyle Fuller needs to continue his great play

With as great as Aaron Rodgers was playing in the second half of the opening week matchup, one pass probably helped decide the outcome. Rodgers dropped back and threw the ball right into Kyle Fuller’s hands. That interception would ice the game for the Bears. First game, against their biggest rivals, and they come out with a big victory.

Except it didn’t happen.

What happened instead was a typical Bears-Packers close game finish. Fuller dropped the ball. Of course, you know what happens when you give Rodgers a second chance — two plays later he threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to Randall Cobb.

If Fuller makes that interception the Chicago Bears already have the division title and they’d be playing for home-field advantage.

Rest assured Rodgers will attack Fuller again. In addition to the dropped pass, he also got burned a couple of times. Rodgers will want to see if he burn him again.

Fuller is a different player today, though. He has seven interceptions, tied for the league lead. Also, he has 19 passes defended and 48 tackles. It’ll be a challenge to get to Rodgers, though. He has a league-low 1 interception for the year. Of course, a lot of that is attributed to the 53 throw aways he has. If he cannot get the open man, he’ll throw the ball away. Hopefully, that turns out to a lot of three-and-outs.

Fuller is really looking forward to the challenge (per Packers.com):

"Yeah, for sure. It would definitely feel good to get one off Aaron Rodgers. Just looking forward to the game and that challenge facing him."

For his part, Rodgers notes the improvement in Fuller.

"I think he’s improved, I really do. I’ve always had respect for him, but this year he’s playing with more confidence. You see it on the film, you see it when you watch the games live. He’s trusting his instincts and making plays on the ball."

It’ll be interesting to see how this matchup goes. If Fuller can break through and get an interception the Bears will be celebrating after the game.
