The New York Jets need a No. 1 wide receiver, and in today’s NFL, Parris Campbell can fit that bill. He would provide them with the weapon they don’t have.

Who is the best receiver in the NFL in 2018? The answer to that question is likely Tyreek Hill. Hill is 5-10, 185 pounds. We all love the prototypical size in the receiver, like Jerry Rice, Michael Irvin, Calvin Johnson, etc. but the modern NFL allows for other types of receivers to succeed. There’s a potential wide receiver for the New York Jets to target in the 2019 NFL Draft who is listed at 6-1, 208 pounds, and his name is Parris Campbell.

With the way rules are set up in the NFL today, guys like Campbell and Hill can thrive. They are weapons because of their speed. They can go all over the field with impunity.

Coming into this season, the knock on Campbell was a limited route tree. However, he’s improved that dramatically to the point where he could be a first round pick in the upcoming draft.

Coming into the 2018 season, the intermediate routes were an issue for Campbell. He could use his speed to beat defenders deep, and he could also take the short routes and turn on the jets as well. He’s can create separation with his speed and quickness in the 10-19 yard range now on top of that. He still needs some work on the intermediate routes, but he’s young and has time.

Like Hill, Campbell’s speed can be utilized in the return game, mostly on punts. He’s had 30 career returns averaging 30.4 yards per return.

Patrick Mahomes may be named NFL MVP this season largely because his receivers are able to create plays and gain yards after the catch. Campbell would provide the Jets with that and then some. He would also bring an added dimension to the running game with his speed. It’s been a long time since the Jets had a dynamic No. 1 receiver, and Campbell is exactly what they need.
