1. A positive with the play of the tight ends…finally

If there was a positive to be spoken of for the Dallas Cowboys in Sunday’s loss is the overall play of the tight ends. They might have had their best overall game of the season. The leading receiver for the Cowboys was tight end Blake Jarwin who had four receptions for 45 yards on seven targets for the Cowboys.

Another tight end for the Cowboys that played well was Dalton Schultz with three receptions for 23 yards on four targets. Granted there were a couple miscues with Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and the tight ends, but for a game where the Cowboys offense didn’t produce a single point, this is the best part of the game for “America’s Team” on the offensive side of the ball.

The Cowboys need to keep having continued improvement from their tight ends, because they’ve never truly replaced the retired Jason Witten this season as not one of the current tight ends of the Cowboys have really stepped up to be the top option at the position.

As for the rest of the offense, Prescott didn’t play his highest level as his passes weren’t on target, and at times he held the ball for too long due to various miscues within the offense. There was also the fact the Colts didn’t let Amari Cooper or Ezekiel Elliott beat them either with Elliott having just 18 carried for 87 yards rushing and seven receptions for 41 yards. Cooper had four receptions on seven targets for 32 yards.

Elliott had a nice game for the Cowboys, but what was exciting to see were the tight ends play at a better level than usual and maybe that can continue into next Sunday.
