The Chicago Bears beat the Green Bay Packers in a Week 15 matchup. The win gave the Bears the NFC North title. Here are three takeaways from the game.

Rejoice Chicago Bears fans. After four straight last-place finished, your team won the NFC North division title and made it to the playoffs for the first time since 2010. They did so by beating their hated rivals, the Green Bay Packers, 24-17. Additionally, beating them eliminated Green Bay from playoff consideration. The Bears go from worst to first in the division. It doesn’t get any than that.

The Bears’ delightful season continues. No one except some fans with rose-colored glasses expected this. Just a season ago, they had the worst wide receivers corps in the NFL and the 29th ranked offense. This season they have a chance to win it all.

The Bears had a 14-3 halftime lead. Of course, the Packers had a comeback in them. Head coach Matt Nagy got a bit too cute and it helped the Packers. He tried a fake punt near midfield on a fourth-and-two and failed. I didn’t mind the call, but I didn’t like the play. If you have players quick enough to take it to the outside why not use them? The Packers then took the short field, scored a touchdown and converted on the two-point play.

Later, the Bears were driving in Packers territory. They had a third-and-one and again Nagy tried trickery. He had quarterback Mitchell Trubisky go to the slot and had three running backs in the backfield. Tarik Cohen took the snap and was going to give it to Jordan Howard. It seemed like Cohen saw something and wanted to keep the ball, The ball was fumbled and the Packers recovered.

The great Bears defense held the Packers on a three-and-out and got the ball back to the offense. Trubisky led the offense down the field and the drive resulted in a 13-yard touchdown pass to Trey Burton. The defense held up again and the city of Chicago started the celebration.

Here are three takeaways from the game.
