Chicago Bears: 3 Big takeaways from win vs. Packers in Week 15
The Bears take charge of the North again
This was one of the best wins for the Chicago Bears. It’s been seven seasons since they made a trip to the playoffs. It’s been 11 seasons since they went to the Super Bowl. By winning on Sunday, they ended the non-playoff streak and now have a chance to end the Super Bowl drought.
It is incredible to think how quickly this turned around. At this time last season, we were talking about looking for a new coach and who the Bears would pick up in free agency and the draft. At the beginning of the season, most fans would be happy with a record above .500 to show they’re on the right path.
Now we’re talking about who the Bears face in the first round and how far they’ll go in the playoffs. Before, we were talking about how much the Bears struggled at home. Today, the team finished with a 7-1 record at home. A few years ago, the defense was giving up 50-point games like candy. Today, they act like touchdowns are a slap in the face.
While this is nice, it’s not the end game. After the game, Nagy explained (via ChicagoBears.com) how the Bears are greedy. He engrained the word finish on the players’ brains. He kept reminding them of what happened in Week 1. He spoke on how now the team isn’t finished.
"They finished (the game) but they know we’re not finished; that we want to continue to keep doing what we’re doing and not be satisfied and content with this. We know we want more."
Football in Chicago is fun again. The city is alive when the Bears are relevant. We may like different baseball teams, and we may like or dislike basketball or hockey, but the city’s sports fans unite for one team — the Chicago Bears. The embarrassment of the past seven seasons (especially the last four) is over.
