Fantasy Football 2018: Waiver wire targets for Week 16
By Donnie Druin
It’s championship time in fantasy football, and we take a look at potential waiver-wire targets for Week 16 to help carry you to victory.
It’s finally time. All the offseason research, mock drafts, articles read and roster moves have led us to this precise moment. It’s championship weekend for majority of fantasy football leagues, meaning everything is on high alert. Your start/sits are the obviously the most important items on the fantasy agenda (don’t worry, those are coming in hot), but waiver pickups could ultimately be the difference between claiming yourself as league champion, or simply settling for second place.
The waivers can be the best place to replace regular guys in your lineup, especially this time of year when players tend to be banged up more frequently. Where is the proof you may ask? Right in the week fifteen pudding. Popular waiver grabs Damien Williams and Derrick Henry proved to be more than beneficial, as both backs were the 4th and 5th highest scoring players in fantasy football this past week.
As we move forward to week 16, some key injuries are worth tracking. Superstar running back Todd Gurley is currently dealing with knee inflammation and is considered day-to-day. Ito Smith finds himself on IR, clearing the way for Tevin Coleman’s uptake in usage. Lastly, Tyler Boyd was diagnosed with a low-grade MCL sprain, and is expected to miss some time.
Unfortunately, injuries and poor-performances are part of playing fantasy football. Replacing said players are tough, but with the right navigation on the waivers, victory can still be found.
The importance of this week cannot be overstated. Moves like these are season-defining, thus placing even more pressure than normal. That’s why I’ve dug deep into research of only the finest players available in most leagues to help deliver a championship to your doorstep.
