Here are five teams that should consider themselves on upset alert for NFL Week 16 of the 2018 season.
With the start of the postseason right around the corner, now is not the time for teams battling for playoff position to suffer upsets against teams they should technically be able to defeat with ease. But once again, NFL Week 16 is loaded with plenty of candidates that will be looking to avoid being one of the latest teams finishing on the wrong side of an upset.
After falling just shy of earning a trip to the Super Bowl last winter, the Minnesota Vikings were expected to be one of the heavy Super Bowl favorites in the NFC, especially after upgrading at the quarterback position by replacing Case Keenum with Kirk Cousins.
While that may still end up being the case, it’s concerning to see the Vikings battling for their playoff lives at the moment as the No. 6 seed in the NFC. And with their final two games being against the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, Minnesota is far from a guarantee to hang on to that final Wild Card spot.
One can only imagine the high level of frustration surrounding the Vikings if they come up short these final two weeks, and end up watching the playoffs from home like a majority of teams across the league. So along with Minnesota facing heavy pressure to finish on top of this weekend’s game in Detroit, here are some other teams that will be looking to avoid a major upset in Week 16 to remain in better shape for the final stretch of the playoff race.
