The Houston Texans have a chance at a first-round playoff bye as they welcome the Jacksonville Jaguars to town for a Week 17 divisional matchup.

The Houston Texans know that they are going to be in the 2019 NFL Playoffs. What they don’t know is what seed they will be in the postseason. With Week 17 having arrived, however, we will know by the end of Sunday what seed Deshaun Watson and Co. will have. And how they fare at NRG Stadium against the rival Jacksonville Jaguars will go a long way in determining that.

After a loss against the Eagles last week in heartbreaking fashion, the Texans are currently looking at playing in the Wild Card Round. However, Bill O’Brien’s team isn’t out of it by a long-shot. They have an outside chance at the one-seed, but their best chances are at getting the No. 2 seed in the AFC.

With a win over the Jaguars on Sunday and a loss by the Patriots against the Jets as well, the Texans are the second seed. There is also an outside chance that includes the Chiefs and Chargers losing along with Houston picking up the victory. Thus, the options are there, especially with a team that’s likely hungry and has weapons like JJ Watt and DeAndre Hopkins, along with Watson.

As for the Jaguars, their season finale against the Texans will feature Blake Bortles back at the helm in what could be his final start for this team. He’ll have his work cut out for him, but he’d no doubt love to lead his team to a win over a rival as his reign ends.

The Jaguars have little to play for, but they would certainly love to throw a monkey wrench into the season of their AFC South rivals, the Texans. They will have that opportunity on the road in Houston in Week 17 and Bortles will look to sing his swan song as his time as the “franchise” quarterback in Jacksonville comes to a close.
