Jets vs. Patriots, Week 17 live stream: Watch NFL online
The New England Patriots aim for a first-round bye in the 2019 NFL Playoffs, but need to avoid an upset against the New York Jets to lock that up.
There aren’t too many people that feel overly confident about the New England Patriots heading into the final week of the regular season. Had the year ended after Week 16, though, they would be the No. 2 seed in the playoffs out of the AFC. Unfortunately for them, they now need to win in Week 17 against the New York Jets to cement that spot in the postseason.
Tom Brady hasn’t been playing at a superstar level for the Patriots as of late. He’s been pedestrian at 41 years old late in the season, seemingly shying away from contact and not being able to make a number of big-time throws. The departure of Josh Gordon was clearly felt and the offense needs a shot in the arm heading into the playoffs, but in Week 17 before that too.
Having said that, the Jets have been all over the place at the start of the Sam Darnold era. The rookie quarterback has been coming on strong of late, though, and the New York offense has looked much better than at other points throughout the regular season.
What this game may come down to is the Patriots defense. If the likes of Stephon Gillmore and Co. can come up with some big plays that change momentum against Darnold and the Jets, the big brother in this AFC East rivalry will take care of business.

The Patriots have clearly been the better team in a matchup with the Jets as it pertains to the 2018 season (and the past two decades). However, with Gang Green trying to make a statement for their future, hurting the Super Bowl chances of the Pats would certainly be a great way of doing just that.
