The Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions finish the season with a week 17 NFC North game at Lambeau Field. Here is how you can tune in to see the action.

The Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers have played some very important week 17 games against each other in the last few years. Both the 2014 and 2016 meetings in week 17 were de facto NFC North championship games with the winner claiming not only the regular season finale but also the division title. Things are decidedly different as the Lions and Packers close the 2018 season against each other.

A division title certainly isn’t at stake and both teams have been eliminated from playoff contention of any kind. A final spot in the NFC North standings isn’t even at stake as the 5-10 Lions are already guaranteed to finish at the bottom and the 6-8-1 Packers are locked into third place behind the Bears and Vikings. A Lions win would give them a season sweep after beating the Packers in the first meeting of the season in Detroit, but are those bragging rights worth much?

Maybe fan pride means something but neither fanbase will probably lose any sleep over a week 17 loss considering it can only improve their place in the 2019 NFL Draft order. The Packers have already fired Mike McCarthy so the change some Packers fans have been asking for is already under way, removing any worry that the status quo might be spared.

On the Lions side, the team finally broke their horrendous road losing streak to the Packers a couple years ago so getting rid of that black mark isn’t even at stake. This is one for the die hards.
