7. David Shaw, Head Coach, Stanford

Shaw is a little off the radar, and he may be a longshot. He told Howie Kussoy of the New York Post this when it comes to coaching in the NFL.

"I’ve coached at that level. I’ve worked with All-Pro guys and Hall of Fame guys, and I’ve coached in every game except for the biggest one, so it’s not like, ‘OK, that’s my goal and I have to get there.’ My goal is to do great things at Stanford. If one day that happens, great, but it’s not a goal in my career to do that."

That sounds like a man who’s content in being a great college coach. However, that doesn’t mean a team can’t lure him away. It is tougher considering he’s the head coach of his alma mater, though.

As stated in the quote, he’s been in the NFL before. He’s been a quarterbacks and wide receivers coach before. He was the quarterbacks coach under whom Rich Gannon began his resurgence to an MVP level.

Shaw’s offensive background makes him intriguing, but the likelihood of him returning to the NFL at this point seem slim. However, he is worth mentioning as a candidate, because of his credentials.
