3. New York Jets: Jonah Williams, OT, Alabama

With the No. 3 pick in this 2019 NFL Mock Draft, the New York Jets go out and get someone to keep Sam Darnold upright. The rookie out of USC started out slow but has really come on after missing a few games with an injury.

Since missing Week 10-13, he came back and has had six touchdowns against just one interception. Most of that damage has come in their past two games when he had 253 yards and two picks against Houston and 341 yards with three touchdowns against the Packers. He had no turnovers at all in either of those games and despite them both going down as losses, Darnold showed tremendous growth.

Now that the signal-caller seems figured out, the Jets will need to add more help around him. The best way to ensure success for a young quarterback is to make sure he has time to throw. That’s why they land Jonah Williams, the Alabama left tackle who will slide in as a day one starter in the NFL.

New York needs other skill players as well, but solidifying their line first will go much farther in building a better offense. It will also help any skill players they do add later as a solid line makes everything look better.
