6. New York Giants: Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

Up until earlier this week, it was still unsure if Justin Herbert would declare for the 2019 NFL Draft. If he entered, he was in the discussion for the No. 1 overall pick. However, reports kept surfacing that he may elect to stay at Oregon to play alongside his brother who committed to play tight end for the Ducks.

On Wednesday, he confirmed that would be the case as Herbert will return to Oregon for 2019. That could be good news for Dwayne Haskins who has inserted himself into the discussion for the top quarterback in the draft. With Herbert not available, the Giants — who were high on him — settle for Haskins.

That’s not to say this is bad for them. Haskins is an incredible talent who only was behind Herbert due to experience. The Ohio State quarterback had just 57 pass attempts heading into this season before going for 4,580 yards with 47 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

With the Giants being the first quarterback-needy team on our board, this is where he lands. And it could be a very smart move as getting Haskins in the Big Apple pairs an amazing young talent at the most important position with a couple other amazing talents at skill positions.

Running back Saquon Barkley has been as good as advertised this season after being selected at No. 2 overall. Then there’s Odell Beckham, Jr. who is one of the more exciting young wideouts in the game. This offense will be a lot better with someone like Haskins out there distributing the ball to these playmakers.
