Chicago Bears: 5 Reasons they can make a long playoff run
After a great regular season, the Chicago Bears now enter the playoffs. Here are five reasons they can make a long run.
The regular season is now over. The Chicago Bears ended it spectacularly, owning a 12-4 record. They won the NFC North, and eliminated both the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings from playoff contention with late-season wins. It is the first time the Bears have made it to the playoffs since 2010.
There were plenty of great plays that filled the 2018 season. Mitchell Trubisky‘s six-touchdown performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the defense’s performance throughout the season, and the wins against the aforementioned Packers and Vikings, along with the win against the Los Angeles Rams, are all great highlights. Even the lowlights weren’t that bad. You can bring up the four losses, but each of those games was decided on the final series and by a grand total of 14 points.
While all of that is well and good, the point of any season is to win it all, right?
In that case, the job isn’t done yet. Head coach Matt Nagy said as much recently. In order for the Bears to reach the ultimate prize, they need to win four more games. Their journey to the Super Bowl begins Sunday afternoon against the defending champions, the Philadelphia Eagles (of course they have to face the champs).
Do the Bears have what it takes to go far in the playoffs? After being slow to give the respect the team deserves for their season, they’re becoming a favorite dark horse. Many still don’t expect them to make any noise, but just in case they say they wouldn’t be surprised if they played well.
The Chicago Bears have everything necessary to make a long run in the playoffs. Here are the reasons why they will.
