4. Trubisky is better now than he was when the season started

Another player who has taken a beating about his play is Mitchell Trubisky. He’s been a lightning rod for disagreement this season. There are many in the national media who just don’t trust them. Some go as far as to say he’ll be the reason the Bears have an early exit.

There are others who disagree. While he may not be the greatest quarterback in the league, he’s made great strides from last year. He’s had coaches who worked with him to help him develop.

For the season, Trubisky threw for 3,223 yards and 24 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. He completed 66.5 percent of his pass attempts. In addition, he ran for 421 yards with an average of 6.2 yards per run. The Bears are 10-3 in games that he’s started. They’ve won the last 7 games in which he’s played.

Considering this is the second offensive system he’s learned in his two seasons as a professional, Trubisky’s numbers aren’t bad. He’s had on-the-job training and he’s coming out looking pretty good.

With the defense playing the way it is, Trubisky just needs to limit the mistakes. Former NFL player and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick predicted the Chicago Bears will go to the Super Bowl on Get Up!. He says as long as Trubisky limits his mistakes and hits his opportunities the Bears can beat anyone.

A key for Trubisky will be his legs. He’s used them to convert big first downs and three touchdowns. If he stays in control he can not only run for yards he can also move around and extend plays.

If Trubisky can do that, the Bears will indeed make a long run.
