Chicago Bears: 5 Reasons they can make a long playoff run
3. Burton knows what it takes to win and will help his teammates
The man who ran the greatest play in Philadelphia Eagles history can help another city win a championship. Tight end Trey Burton helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl last year. He is famous for throwing the pass in the “Philly Special” that scored a key touchdown against the New England Patriots.
He may do the same for Chicago this season.
Burton moved on and signed with the Bears this past offseason. He’s been a key player for the Bears’ offense, hauling in 54 catches for 569 yards and 6 touchdowns. He’s been a dependable target for Trubisky.
There aren’t many people (coaches and players) on this Bears team that have a lot of playoff experience, let alone Super Bowl experience. Burton can help his teammates know what to expect, and he can make plays as well. He can be a valuable help for the young quarterback.
Another player who can reap the benefits of Burton’s experience is Adam Shaheen. Shaheen dealt with injuries this season but he can be a key player. If he and Burton can be a good duo it really jump-starts the offense. To have multiple targets who are big and athletic give Trubisky and the coaches more options in the play-calling.
With head coach Matt Nagy’s penchant for trick plays who knows if there is a “Chi-Town Special” in the wings with Burton. In any case, he’ll provide his teammates with much-needed information and can help keep them calm in the face of the storm.
