There are reports that Jimmy Haslam is interested in Adam Gase as the head coach of the Cleveland Browns, but that won’t go over well with the locker room
After being let go by the Miami Dolphins, Adam Gase is supposedly drawing interest from Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. The connection makes sense as Haslam has a close relationship with Peyton Manning due to their ties to the University of Tennesee.
And according to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Manning is recommending that Haslam take a long look at Gase for the open position. Haslam also pursued Gase in the past, but he wasn’t ready to become a head coach at the time and decided to wait.
Now the interest could be renewed between the two sides. On the surface, this doesn’t seem like the worst idea, but hiring Gase could lead to some problems in the Browns locker room.
Gase had a hard time gaining respect in Miami and decided to make examples out of many of his players. One such player was Jarvis Landry, who doesn’t have warm fuzzies when thinking about his time with the Miami head coach.
Landry led the NFL in catches in 2017 but was then traded to the Browns and he said he felt Gase sent him there “to die.” The reason he felt that way had a lot to do with the rocky relationship between the two.
There’s no doubt there will still be bad blood between the coach and the wide receiver, and Landry may have even taken some joy out of the news that Gase was canned on Monday.

There are countless other players taking to social media to express their joy in seeing Gase lose his job. This is the biggest red flag possible and fans have to hope Haslam and general manager John Dorsey are paying attention.
Not only did Gase make a ton of enemies, but one of his biggest seems to be Landry. Although Juice has only been on the team one season he’s already become a leader in the locker room. Adding someone like Gase who doesn’t see eye to eye with him would be a huge mistake.
There’s no way Landry and Gase will co-exist and hiring him would already cause a rift in the locker room before their new head coach even enters the building.
