Round 3: Beau Benzschawel, OG, Wisconsin

In the third round of this 2019 NFL Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers add to an already talented offensive line by selecting Beau Benzschawel, the 317-pound guard from Wisconsin. This Offensive Line University just keeps sending elite talent to the next level. And while Benzschawel isn’t in that elite category, he can become an effective starter in the NFL.

According to Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network, Benzschawel is as strong as they come and plays with some great football IQ.

More from NFL Draft

"“Passes off swap responsibilities effectively and does well to feel developing pressure. Highly developed sense of angles and combination blocks are successful to create angles. Crafty screen game releases.” — Crabbs, The Draft Network"

Crabbs does also say that Benzschawel can be frustrating as he often finds himself on the ground at the end of plays and may need to be protected via scheme — and players around him.

With Mike McGlinchey playing well at right tackle, Benzschawel could end up sliding in next to him at guard and playing very well. His ability to win in the ground game could be very beneficial as well to a team that could use some improvement in this area in 2019 and beyond.
