No. 3 seed: Houston Texans
No. 4 seed: Baltimore Ravens
No. 5 seed: Los Angeles Chargers
No. 6 seed: Indianapolis Colts

NFC
No. 1 seed: New Orleans Saints (home-field advantage)
No. 2 seed: Los Angeles Rams (first-round bye)
No. 3 seed: Chicago Bears
No. 4 seed: Dallas Cowboys
No. 5 seed: Seattle Seahawks
No. 6 seed: Philadelphia Eagles

It’s been a season full of surprises, and this list of playoff teams is no exception.

Sure, we’ve got a couple of teams everyone expected to be on here. We all knew the Patriots were headed for the playoffs, and the Saints and Rams have been two of the teams to beat in the NFC for months now. However, beyond that, you could probably make a case that almost all of these teams shocked some folks.

I don’t think many had the Chiefs winning the AFC West in 2018, and it was the Jacksonville Jaguars instead of the Texans who were seen as the top threats in the AFC South. I had zero idea that the Colts would be headed for the postseason back in September. And yet, the biggest surprise in the AFC might be that the Pittsburgh Steelers missed the cut.

As for the NFC, the Bears lived up to the preseason hype by beating both the Green Bay Packers and Vikings out for the NFC North crown. I don’t think many folks saw the Cowboys taking the NFC East either. The Seahawks may be the biggest surprise of the bunch, though, seeing as they had been counted out after a major offseason rebuild.

Either way, these are the 12 teams we’ve got left. If the regular season was any indicator, we could be in for quite a few surprises before a champion is crowned in February.
