The Seattle Seahawks finished with ten wins in the 2018 regular season. The following five players contributed the most to the successful season.

The Seattle Seahawks have had successful years under Pete Carroll in the past, but hardly anyone saw this 10-6 season coming. Seattle turned what was supposed to be a retooling year into a fifth seed in the NFC and a playoff run. Obviously, a great coach alone isn’t enough to lift a team to the postseason. You need great players as well, and the Seahawks have a lot of Pro Bowl caliber talent.

While every player contributed to this improbable season, some players accomplished more and served as cornerstones for the team’s success. If it wasn’t for these guys I doubt Seattle would be in the situation they are now.

With that, let’s look at the top five players for the Seahawks from the 2018 season.

5. Tyler Lockett

With Doug Baldwin dealing with injuries all season long, Lockett stepped up in a big way and had a breakout season. Russell Wilson has been so reliant on Baldwin in the past, but the Pro Bowl receiver missed three games this season and dealt with nagging injuries. Somebody had to step up and be Wilson’s go-to guy.

Through his first three seasons, Lockett contributed more as a return man than a wide receiver. Prior to this year, his rookie season had been his best. That year, he had 51 receptions for 664 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns.

People were beginning to question whether Lockett had peaked early on and if he was worth holding on to down the line. I was certainly one of those people. I thought Lockett was limited as a receiver and was incapable of playing the role of a number one target. I was wrong.

This year Lockett led the Seahawks with 57 receptions, 965 receiving yards, ten receiving touchdowns and 60.3 receiving yards per game. He was targeted 70 times and finished with a reception percentage (receptions divided by targets) of 81.4 percent. His previous personal best in this category was 73.9 percent. All around, it was a great year for Lockett who proved he was worth the three-year extension he signed this offseason.
