3. Chris Carson

Carson was taken in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He started three games last season and played in four total before an injury landed him on injured reserve. When the Seahawks drafted Rashaad Penny in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft, people began to question who would be the team’s starter. Carson won the job and hasn’t looked back.

In just his second season, Carson rushed for 82.2 yards per game and nine touchdowns. He carried the ball 247 times for 1,151 yards, despite missing two games, and added on 20 receptions for 163 receiving yards. That’s an enormous payoff for a seventh-round pick, and he didn’t carry the ball enough to wear himself out.

Sometimes, players like Carson get too many carries and struggle to repeat their success in subsequent seasons, but Carson didn’t have to face that huge workload because he missed two games and had two good backups in Mike Davis and Penny.

The Seahawks led the league in rushing yards per game this season with an even 160. The last time the Seahawks led the league in that category was back in 2014 when Marshawn Lynch ran for 81.6 yards per game. That year the Seahawks went to the Super Bowl for the second straight season. Seahawks fans hope Carson’s success is a sign for things to come this postseason.
