Seattle knows their opponents

The Seahawks already played the Cowboys once this season. The two teams played all the way back in Week 3 and the Seahawks won 24-13. The Cowboys have gotten better since then, specifically with the addition of Amari Cooper.

But Seattle hasn’t remained stagnant either. The Seahawks really found a team identity down the stretch and have gotten healthier as well. Baldwin is as healthy as he has been since Week 1, Wagner isn’t banged up anymore, and Wright has returned.

While this will be an interesting matchup, the Seahawks just need to do what they did back in Week 3. If they eliminate the passing attack and force the Cowboys to play from behind while running the ball, then Seattle should control the game. The only problem is Earl Thomas, who had two interceptions in the first meeting between these teams, is on injured reserve.

One possible road the Seahawks could take after beating Dallas leads to Los Angeles. The Seahawks played the Rams twice this year already and lost both times. However, the combined point differential from both of those games is just seven. Seattle was in both of those games and, if given a third shot, has the knowledge and talent to take down the Rams.

Seattle also played the third seed Bears this year. The two teams met all the way back in Week 2 when we had no idea either of these teams would survive the regular season. As with the game against the Cowboys, because it happened so long ago both teams have changed. Although I’d argue the Seahawks have changed more than the Bears in this instance.

Back in Week 2, Chicago beat Seattle 24-17 in a game defined by turnovers. By now both teams have greater ball security and their offenses are performing more consistently in general. The only way for these two teams to meet is if they make it to the NFC Championship.

It’s been a fun and interesting season covering the Seahawks. At the start of the season, I assumed I was covering a rebuilding team that would have a high draft pick in 2019. The story hasn’t played out that way. As someone who was highly critical of the Seahawks before the season and during the first few weeks, I can honestly tell you this team now has a chance to win the Super Bowl.
